RANGMAR

In times of crisis, access to essential resources such as food, water, and medicine can mean the difference between life and death. Unfortunately, even when aid is available, logistical challenges often prevent it from reaching those who need it most.

Large humanitarian organizations have established systems to track and distribute resources efficiently. However, independent volunteers, grassroots groups, and small relief efforts often lack access to these tools, relying instead on pen-and-paper, spreadsheets, or messaging apps to coordinate aid. This can lead to inefficiencies, delays, and wasted resources.

Interestingly, these challenges mirror the struggles faced by the online retail sector. Large e-commerce companies use sophisticated warehouse management systems and logistics networks to optimize inventory tracking and delivery. Meanwhile, small retailers often rely on manual methods, leading to stock mismanagement, shipping delays, and inefficient distribution – similar to what happens in small-scale humanitarian aid efforts.

Through conversations with a trusted friend, we discovered that scarcity is only part of the problem. The organization, tagging, labeling, and distribution of available supplies are equally critical challenges that can determine how effectively help is delivered.

This led to the creation of RANGMAR – a streamlined system designed to bridge this gap. It helps aid workers, volunteers, and smaller organizations collaboratively organize, tag, and reallocate supplies. Users can identify nearby stores of supplies, determine where the needs are greatest, and ensure efficient distribution to maximize support for those most affected.
